Couper Country orginally started out as a large cash crop farming operation, located just outside of Milton Ontario in the 1970's. After relocating to the Arthur area in the late 1990's, a life long passion for making maple syrup was finally realized by owner Jamie Couper. The Couper Country site has quite a bit of history behind it (see Arthur and Area historical site). The bush was used for maple syrup production going back to the 1920's. Couper Country owner, Jamie Couper, believes in the importance of quality food products. Since acquiring the maple bush, he has formed a constant program to upgrade the maple operation, including adding a pipeline system.

The Sugar House

In the sugar house, a preheater system was added to improve the efficiency in the boiling process. He also added a new filtering system to remove impuraties to make a great maple product even better.

Our goal at Couper Country is to produce and package some of the finest maple products on the market today, as well as other fine home grown agricultural products. Our maple products are produced using strict guidelines, and practices the old fashioned method of using a wood fired evaporator in our Sugar House.

Maple Syrup Grades
All maple syrup sold in Ontario must be graded. There are four colour classes sold for consumer use.

#1 Extra Light
This is a very delicate maple flavour. It is best with pancakes, and waffles.
#2 Light
Light has a delicate maple flavour, and is best with french toast, dessert topping, and breakfast cereals.
#3 Medium
Medium possesses a distinct maple flavour. Excellent for glazing, sweetening, or even as a dessert on its own.
#4 Amber
Amber has a stronger maple flavour than the others. It is good for baking, and flavouring.
